THERE IS ONLY US

As part of this year's Supersonic Festival, I've been invited to submit a nine minute soundtrack to accompany ‘There are no others, there is only us’ - a multi-screen black and white video installation created by director Marc Silver.
"Exploring the ways in which people find peace in a world of chaos, ‘There are no others, there is only us’ is a dance of half a million swarming birds – a powerful visual metaphor illustrating the nature of collaboration and the power of crowds."

The audio piece will be exhibited alongside the moving image work at Birmingham Moor Street station, host to 12,000 commuters each day. The installation is open to the public from 24th to 26th July, 10am - 6pm daily.

DEAD AIR

Spent some time as a guest at Rhubarb Radio today, opposite the reception in Custard Factory, Birmingham. An hour of me choosing records to play and talking with Mark 'Zip' Preston, captain of Ideal Skate shop & mini ramp (also in Custard Factory).
"Would you kiss the guy who runs Boss distortion pedals?"
"Ever thought about burning a police car?"
My answers to these plus laughs, blunders and punk/weirdo music.

Quick choices went to Crass, Harry Pussy, Melvins, Trencher, U.S. Girls, Back Stabbath, Aunt Sally (not Phew as announced), Devo, Toots & Maytals, Sunn0))), Hototogisu, John Wiese, Suburban Lawns, Mika Miko and Wipers. Didn't have time to blast out Cocteau Twins, Ocrilim, No Trend, Harvey Milk, Nico and more but maybe next time.

AWKESTRA

Visual documentation of the Dream Dreams The Dreamer show I played saturday night at Vivid arts space in Birmz. I expanded the orkestra to 3 drumkits, 3 guitars, 2 vocals, bass and violin. Thanks to the Capsule ladies. Photos by Stu Green and Pete Ashton.

-Loud as hell.
-Vocals so harsh the sound engineer cut them from the mix after 30 seconds.
-Lord Of The Flies (1963) projected behind us while playing.
-Suprisingly warm response from the audience and nice comments afterward.
-Also on the line up were Prurient/Cold Cave, Nicholas Bullen and Iron Fist Of The Sun.

-The awkestra increases in number for the next shows. More bass and the choir part will happen now there's enough people to sing.
